Marco Pantani's 1998 Tour De France winning bike

    Hi guys,

Marco's tour winning bike is currently on display in the Evans cycling shop window just off Deansgate Manchester city centre! Yes it is true i have seen it with my own eyes! Rumour has it that the manager of the shop apparently owns the machine and it will be there indefinitley.

I myself think it should be in the museum at the top of the Ghisallo.what do you think?

Anyone in England must pay a visit.

That has to be pretty cool to see his bike. Considering what happened to Pantini there has to be an erie feeling looking at it. I wish you had a picture.

It was doing a tour of Bianchi dealers about 5 or 6 years ago when I saw it - tiny but beautiful. Think I may have to nip across the Pennines for another look.

Re: Marco Pantani's 1998 Tour De France winning bike

    Ta da!

    The information sheet reads:

    This bike features:

    A prototype scandium frame.

Pre-production 1999 Campagnolo Record carbon ergo levers.

    Titanium seatpost.

    Customised saddle for Mr. Pantani.

Extra long steerer tube to raise handlebar position so he could climb in the drops.

    Prototype Campagnolo Electron rims.

    Hand made Vittoria tubular tyres.

Customised left hand ergo lever and down tube shifter for front mech. This was done to save weight on the ergo lever itself and the extra length of cable to the handlebar.

The information sheet says that the levers were "Pre-production 1999 Campagnolo Record carbon ergo levers." but this picture shows aluminium like pirata21 said.

    Interesting.

Possibly used more than one bike?

Also this picture shows silver hubs like the one in Manchester but the other picture has black.

By the way how do I add pictures to a post, please?
