    Hi Syndicate,

yes, it' s great to ride in Italy. My town is settled near the Appennini and here people enjoy cycling (not in the cities like in the Netherlands, but mostly like a sport activity), on and off the road. It' s not like living on the Alpes but you can find many good places to go by bicycle. I don' t think, for what I' ve heard and seen on tv, that there are many mountains in Florida, ain' t it? But I think that it would be fine anyway to ride, with that weather during all the year..you' re so f*****g lucky!! Here it' s very cold in winter and usually I stop riding between november and february. Which town are you from?

    Good bye, Francesco.

    Francesco;

What part of Italy is your town located in? How popular would you say cycling is in Italy as compared to Futbol.

You're absolutely right; there are no mountains in Florida. However, there are areas in the middle and northern part of the state that have hills. Its funny but in South Florida, the biggest climbs are the bridges over the waterways that traverse the state.

What is beautiful about riding in Florida is being able to ride right next to the ocean. One of the best rides I've done is along the beach. There are many, many cyclists and triathletes which ride along the beach. It very rarely gets cold where I live. I live in a city called Lake Worth. Its very near to West Palm Beach.

Do ride in groups or alone?

Re: Where are you from and what Bianchi do you own??

    Hello Syndicate3,

my town, called Modena, is in the north of Italy. It' s a nice town, most of all famous because of the good food you can eat in its restaurants but even for its Cathedral, monuments, traditions and for its industries too. Near Modena there are many famous industries, most of all, in a small town called Maranello is settled the Ferrari. I' ve seen your town on Google Earth..it seems to be a really really nice place, you' re almost in front of Bahamas and Bimini islands..and I' ve found those two Abaco Islands, which I' ve never heard before, have you ever been there? Anyway..i' ve seen that there are many baseball courts, it must be as popular as football for us, here in Italy, but i' ve got some friends that play baseball in a team in summer time. I' ve seen that you' re near Fort Lauderdale that became famous because of that movie about that child going in space and getting younger than his little brother..do you know it??

However..here in Italy football is the national sport, I' ve been playing football since I was five and I like it (especially World and Euro Cup) but I think that cycling is in second place, maybe not for the number of people that practice but for the culture that this sport has here in my country. Infact children that start a sport, in the 80% go playing football and it' s rare that young boys begin cycling, even because it' s not really easy to find a team. The people you can find when you take a trip on your bycicle are, for the most, middle aged people, there are even younger, but not so many. Anyway, in Italy, even because of the Giro d' Italia, cycling is a really beloved sport and has many supporters that watch it on tv or go practicing it on the streets. I think it' s a fact of culture, but it' s not so easy to find young people that enjoy this sport because it' s not so spectacular I suppose and it' s very tough, while it' s easier to find young guys who are interested in NBA and play basketball, even because it' s easier to find a place and play, than buy a good bike, apparels and so on.. I play basketball too infact. So I think that, if you were born in Italy it' s quite impossible not to become a football expert, 'cause it' s the most chattered (not sure about this word) sport and we' ve got strong teams and football courts and schools wherever you go, less people practice cycling first of all because it's tougher than football, basket or volleyball, 2nd place because it' s not so easy to find people who want to do it with you, and do it by yourself it' s not always fun, and in the end because I think that it' s a sport you can appreciate only with a certain state of mind and awareness, I suppose. Talking about following cycling champions on tv, here, everytime there is one italian who is really strong, many people start following cycling for the first time, but because of the doping scandals many people have stopped supporting them too. What about there in the U.S.?

Talking about me I don' t follow so much cycling because it takes too much time. I prefer to practice it, even if in last times I became a little lazy and go out only if there are 5, 6 other people with me. And what about you? Are you an expert of cycling or you only do it as a sport? And you go out with friends or by yourself?

I prefer to go out with other people because it' s more relaxing and it' s even less heavy. I go out by cycling bike and by mtb too. I' d like to take a holiday on bicycle one day but still haven' t found people to do it.

I' ve got a friend of mine that comes in Miami for job some times during the year, he told me it was very nice.
Anyway, it must be beautiful to ride next to the ocean, do you always go on the coast or even in other places? Why don' t you start doing triathlon and take part to the IRON MAN race??

    All right, must go studying

    good bye,

    Francesco.

    Frankie;

Ciao! Como Stai???...That's about all the Italian I know...ha ha

I actually started doing triathlons in 2002 but now I only do cycling.

I ride but the coast on occassion. Most of the time I ride in the area where I live which is about 40K from the coast. I ride alone during the week. On the weekend I ride with a group which is always fund. And yes I'm not far from Fort Lauderdale at all.

Yes, I following professional cycing quite a bit. That is not common in the US as cycling gets very little exposure on television. Most americans know little about cycling except for Lance Armstrong. Most americans follow american football, basketball, baseball or golf.

Have you ever been to the US? I have never been to Italy and I have always wanted to. I have been to England, Spain, Belgium and Holland. What are you studying?

    Have a good weekend.

Re: Where are you from and what Bianchi do you own??

Hello from Alaska. I just purchased my first Bianchi--a 928 Carbon T-Cube with Campy Voloce. I rode Colnagos in a previos life, but a bad knee, and subsequently putting a lot of extra weight took me off of road bikes for the past 20 years. I had a total knee replacement a little over a year ago and have since lost 60 pounds. To celebrate, I treated myself to this new bike. It's 4:00am here and I couldn't sleep. In a few hours I will meet my friend for a wrench session to do the final set-up before I take my first ride. Can't wait.

Re: Where are you from and what Bianchi do you own??

    Hi everyone/Ciao a tutti

I've just joined the forums but been riding and racing Bianchis since I got my first road bike here in Boston USA (back in 1999). I'm originally from Manchester UK where I did but a little riding as a young man but now ride and race extensively in the New England area.

I've never sold one despite upgrading and I'm not sure I could...

    The stable (chronologically):
    1999 Campione d'Italia
    2000 Boron XL (steel) w Chorus/Record mix
    2006 FG Lite (Liquigas) w Chorus/Record mix
2007 Roger singlespeed cross bike (just for fun!)

My wife also has 2 Bianchis so that gives us 6 altogether!! I guess we're pretty committed to la Passione!

We also took a trip to Tuscany last summer and rented 2 Via Nirones - it really helps to be able to rent somthing you know you'll be familiar with. :-)

My personal theory is that Tuscany is where you go to cycle when you die (assuming you lived a good life). Absolutely perfect riding!

    Ciao!

Re: Where are you from and what Bianchi do you own??

    Hi All,

I'm quite new to the forum too, so a big hello to all Bianchi riders. I have sought of started collecting Bianchi's but have 3 that ride. I train on a team edition EV4, race on a 2006 Liquigas FG Lite and have a current model D2 Pista for the track. I also own 2 other EV4 Frames that are collecting in my garage. My partner often says to me that she doesn't know why I need another bike, which I reply and you probably never will. Cheers!

Re: Where are you from and what Bianchi do you own??

Hi! I bought my first Bianchi in May 2008 a Via Nirone Alu Hydro-Carbon Veloce in Celeste. I've recently returned  to the road after mountain biking for a few years. I've wanted a Bianchi ever since I saw one in a bike shop many years ago and certainly ever since I saw Ullrich in 2003. I've managed to get an Ullrich replica jersey which is worn with pride! I'm from the Rhondda in Wales, with a 4 mile first cat climb two miles in one direction, and a 2 mile first cat climb the other way! Plenty of hills to play on (actually I crave a bit of flat road for a change!). Looking forward to getting fit this winter and then a summer of serious riding (hopefully the Dragon Ride).
