New to me, older Bianchi Eros

I just brought home my new girl a few days ago. I am working to redo her to the original state. I am so excited as this is the first steel bike I have ever owned as an adult.

Can anyone tell how old my bike is by looking at it? It has the STI shifters and a combination of Campagnolo Advanti and Mirage components. It has F6   H53 and the serial number is 28151 stamped on the bottom of the frame. Thank you in advance for sharing info and or links.

    Lisa.

First off, congrats. This bike is both a classic and a beauty. My first Bianchi was an Eros, and I bought it in 1999. Mine (long since moved on) had dark blue decals, and it seems to me that the Eros that preceded it had the white lettering like yours, so I/m guessing yours is either a 1998 or 1997. I'm no Bianchi chrono expert at all, but I'm semi-certain that the one you have is the one that came before mine. Steel and a Bianchi. Wise choice!

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I have since found a catalogue that pictured it to be a 1998, so you were right. I am so happy with the new ride, that it doesn't matter if it is 50 years old or brand new. Again, thank you for your reply.

Yes it is most likely 1998.

Congratulations, it's really nice. I love my Eros - it's a great bike, very comfortable ride and a good training bicycle. I often leave the carbon bikes at home and go out with my steel bike - it makes me feel younger :)

Great ride, you will have a lot of fun with it!
