Re: Where are you from and what Bianchi do you own??

    Hi,

I'm from North Wales in the UK.  I just got my Via Narone 7 Alu/Carbon Campag Mirage 9 speed yesterday and haven't even been out on it yet.  I've bought a Centaur 9 speed rear mech for when the Mirage wears out and plan to upgrade the wheels to Xero XCR1s some time next year.

I've been cycling since I was 11 years old (now 41) but not competitively - I like to ride for fun - 10 miles to 50 miles is fine.  I've had a steel framed flat bar road bike for the last 15 years which has probably done between 7 and 10k miles.  It has a mix of Shimano LX / XTR / 105 / Ultegra having been tweaked and upgraded over the years - it even has tri-bars.

I've decided that I'd like to take the cycling more seriously, aiming to complete the Tour de France stage in the UK in 2007 on the day before the real thing (about 102 miles I believe), hence the new bike.  The old bike will become the winter training machine with the Narone being kept for the Summer months / more serious distances.

I'm really looking forward to it!

    Any views or tips?

    Neil

Re: Where are you from and what Bianchi do you own??

Greetings from Stoughton, just south of Madison, Wisconsin, USA. (Don't blame me, I voted for the other guy.)

I ride a 2005 Giro. Celeste. Nothing fancy, but I love it. I go as fast as the guys my age (48) and strength. I got it last March from my local bike shop, Stoton Cycle. Phil, the owner, kept me on the road last summer when my old bike was dying and my wallet was thin. Go to the small shops - those guys treat you better.

I ride in farm country, on quiet back roads through cornfields and woods. I see as many turkeys, deer, cranes, and badgers as I do the occasional friendly dog. I ride alone or with my neighbors. So far this year I've ridden about 4,000 miles, many of them singing this old song I like, written by Orazio Vecchi in about 1460:

O s’io pottessi dire, Chi va, chi sta, chi vien!
La ti dara martello, Per farti disperar

I think my friends are in despair over my singing....

    Hello everyone;

My name is Ed and I live in Illinois (USA).  I recently bought a Bianchi froma friend of mine. It is an "Ocelot" and a bit older then most I guess.  It is set up for trails and "off-road". I'll put up a pic asap. It is one of the best bikes I have ever ridden. Nice to meet you all.

Hi, name is Nick, live in Cheshire in UK and have just taken delivery of my 928SL frameset. Bought the girlfiend a Nirone 7 as well as she was taking the mickey out of me sitting on my turbo trainer watching episodes of '24' and fancied 'relaxing' while training herself. So now she can  ;-)

Re: Where are you from and what Bianchi do you own??

    Hello everyone,

My name is Len, and I live in New Jersey, USA. I recently purchased a Via Nirone 7, alu/carbon, mix double, which I had changed out to a compact double. I have posted a picture of it in the "show us your Bianchi" discussion forum. This is my first road bike, as I have been riding for 2+ years on an old steel hybrid. I took up cycling, since an overuse injury to my pelvis has restricted my running, which I have been doing for some 28 years. Good luck to all, and have a great year of riding!

Re: Where are you from and what Bianchi do you own??

    Hello All,

This is Don from San Diego.  I received by dream bike last week for my birthday.  My wife purchased me a new 2006 Bianchi Voloce.  Old school steel frame with full Campy gear.  Celeste Green!  Steel is real!  She replaced the seat and seat post with a Specialized S-Works carbon/gel post and Specialized race seat.  What a great ride.  I did 32 miles of fatigue free riding Friday.  This bike will be passed to my grandchildren some day.  It's pure art work.

    Regards,

    Don

Re: Where are you from and what Bianchi do you own??

    Gday there!

I'm Phil, in Austin Texas. I just bought a lovely new Bianchi Via Narone 2007, with the Sora/Integra components. I got it last Wednesday and it broke it in on a 30K fun ride this past Saturday morning. It's my first road bike after having rode mountain bikes for about 16 years. It's a lovely ride and looks super, too. I'm looking forward to many more miles of fun with this machine!

    Cheers,
    Phil

Onnea uudelle polkimelle!
